• Open to remote work, but must be able to get to our HQ in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on a regular basis

About the position

Our UI/UX Designer / Prototyper focuses on designing and building early versions of new software products.

• This role is primarily focused on creating mockups and designs for our portfolio companies’ products. 

• It requires a mixture of skills: 

  • a creative role, designing the product itself, and 

  • a quantitative, research role, bringing that design into contact with real customers and learning from their interactions with it. 

• One implication of that mixture is that you’ve got enough ego to design things that you think might change the world - but humble enough to take tough feedback when customers don’t like it. And then adjust for the next version of your design. 

• The ideal candidate for this role is familiar with modern tooling to build clickable wireframes, quickly and efficiently, without a technical collaborator in most cases.   

• You’ll work closely with our Technical Prototyper on these projects.
